Portuguese metallers MOONSPELL have been confirmed to appear at Rock In Rio - Lisbon festival, according to the event's official web site.
MOONSPELL are scheduled to perform on June 4 alongside SEPULTURA, SLIPKNOT and METALLICA, who will be topping the day's festivities.
The fourth staging of what is considered to be the biggest music festival in the world will be held over a five-day period in late May/early June (May 29-30, June 4-6, 2004).
Also confirmed to appear at Rock In Rio – Lisbon are GUNS N' ROSES and EVANESCENCE, with more acts soon to be announced.
The three previous stagings of Rock in Rio were held in Rio de Janeiro in 1985, 1991 and 2001 under the banner "For a Better World", with part of the proceeds going to disadvantaged children. The organizers describe it as more than just a music festival, calling it "a festival for peace and a social movement to promote a better world".
Rock in Rio - Lisbon will be held at Bela Vista Park in an area of 200 thousand square meters fit to receive a total of 500 thousand people (100 thousand people per day), 70 attractions (Portuguese, Brazilian and international acts), totaling 120 hours of shows. Having a structure similar to that of the last edition of Rock in Rio (held in January 2001 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil), the festival will include a World Stage (main stage), Roots Tent, A Better World Tent and Electro Tent.
The Portuguese version of Rock in Rio will have a message of social consciousness. Like in Brazil, the mobilization will start with three minutes of silence. On the opening day of the festival, spectators will remain silent for three minutes in the name of peace and a better world.
